What you see of your people vs What you know of your people

Grab a pen, some paper and draw a pie for each of your team...how does it look?
Get to know your people, make 'what you see/know' a bigger piece of pie than it is now. It is much harder to leave a team / organisation when you feel people know and get you. Those conversations need to be:
* genuine - if it doesn't come from a place of genuine interest and curiosity they will know
* on-going - it's not a one-off, our lives are constantly changing
This may seen harsh but if you are raising your eyebrows as you read this, and you can't see how this would make a difference, then maybe, just maybe you aren't in the 30% of great managers (refer yesterday's post https://lnkd.in/gTcdZjb)
