Managing by assumption vs Managing by expectation

We all make assumptions, it's easy to do. We do it for different reasons, it saves time, we think others should know what we are asking for or have the initiative to work it out... When asked to do something we can also make assumptions...we don't clarify because we think we know or we don't want to look stupid for asking

Sometimes it works out ok, but it would be better if we set clear expectations from the start as I was reminded today - Me: Please hang out the laundry for me (young) Kids: Sure mum In my mind the clothes would be hung out flat, so they could dry. I didn't ask for this, so this is what I got...balls of clothes pegged to the rack 2 minutes of being clear about what I was looking for would have saved me 10 minutes of re-hanging clothes “When we assume, we make an ASS out of U and ME”
