I am a wannabe avid reader

I do a much better job of buying than reading them - this is my 'to-read' pile, I've read parts of some of them although many pages haven't seen the light of day. If we were wanting to create new habits we can consider any of these:
*Jerry Seinfeld's 'Don't break the chain' - every day you do the task you put a cross on the calendar. Task not completed, no cross and you've broken the chain
*Associate reading with a trigger - eg first thing in the morning or before going to bed
* Dyrsmid's paper clip strategy - 2 jars, one full of paper clips, the other empty. Transfer them across as your complete your task
* If you live by your diary, schedule time in your day to read
* Get a buddy and hold each other accountable
* Anchor the new habit to an existing habit - eg when I sit down at my desk to work I'll spend 30 mins reading
Keeping in mind not to go too big too fast, create an environment that supports your success and reward yourself along the way. Alternatively, if you've read any of these books, let's catch up and you can give me your abridged version. Happy to return the favour on books I have actually read.
